My town has a drive-in theater that is now used as a swap meet / flea market lot.

I heard drive ins and making a comeback!

My theory is that those are dying off because too many people in huge SUVs are pulling in and blocking everyone's view.

Same. The flea market makes enough money to actually own the lot

That's so sad :( this one almost shut down during the reel to digital transition. Luckily people donated enough to make the jump and allow them to redo the facilities :D

I can only hope! If one day I have the disposable income, I'd open one :D

My wife and I used to go to one in Fairborn, Ohio. They're cool until you get stuck next to somebody with straight pipes on a truck who keeps it running for air conditioning.

This one actually has a sloping lot so that it's not as huge of an issue. It's like stadium seating for cars! Lol

That's a great idea, actually.

I say stuff to people like that. I don't care. And if they won't. Then I either ask them to move or I move myself.

I read that the crazy high cost of taking the family out to do stuff is making drive ins attractive again in some towns. Makes sense!

Yeah. It's a life saver when you're here in a Civic lol

Dude. $37, my wife and I get to see 2 movies, and also got drinks, popcorn, fries, and a funnel cake.

Where is this amazingness? If eating was allowed in/on my car, I would for sure bring the lady friend.

The Family Drive-In in Stephens City. 45 minutes West on 66 and 10 minutes North on 81. Dude! You gotta come out sometime.

It's a good hour and a bit away from me. I'll definitely tell the parents about it , they hate going to the Amc theaters in their area.
Thanks for sharing about it though, If I had money I'd support them staying in business.

You had me at funnel cake!

I'm just a couple thousand miles away in So Cal. Not far at all if I drive gumball style ;)

I grew up 4 blocks from one. Alot of memories. A metric shittonne in fact. They stored dumpsters in it. now it's a dead flat property. I see it now nearly every day. The wife used to work in one about 30-40 minutes away. It was the total old school package. We've been once or twice. Trying to figure out how to go with the kids...

I remember going to one all the time as a little kid in my dad's Tahoe. The one we went to is still open and we keep making plans to go back with a bunch of friends, but it never happens.

Load a bunch of my friends into my dad's truck
Park in the back because it's a tall vehicle and I'm not a dick
Sit in bed on a bunch of blankets and enjoy the night
Yes, this sounds delightful
